The small firm loan guarantee scheme is designed to help businesses that require a loan but do not have any assets to offer security. By providing lenders with a government guarantee covering 75% of the loan amount, businesses with a turnover of up to £5.6 million can loan up to £250,000 with terms up to ten years. Without the small firm loan guarantee scheme such funds may not otherwise be available.
